We checked manufacturer press releases and major Korean tech outlets for anything dated inside the Sept 19–25 window and found nothing that qualifies as a new product launch — only older coverage of products already reported in earlier briefs, plus speculative reporting about a possible Xiaomi 18 Korea release later in the year that has not been confirmed as a launch and is not counted here.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 / Extreme Gen 6 — Qualcomm unveiled two next-generation flagship mobile chips on September 22 (local time) at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Maui, Hawaii.

- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 pairs a 5GHz dual-core Oryon Prime cluster with six 4GHz Performance cores. Qualcomm says it delivers a 10% CPU performance gain and a 37% power-efficiency improvement over the Elite Gen 5.
- The higher Extreme Gen 6 (Pro trim) uses a 2+3+3 CPU cluster that peaks at 5.11GHz, versus 4.4GHz on the standard chip. Its Adreno 850 GPU carries 18MB of graphics memory, up from the prior Adreno A845’s 12MB, for a claimed 44% GPU performance gain and 40% efficiency improvement.

- Qwen-family models effectively dominate this week’s trending list, reportedly accounting for close to half of the top-ranked models across text, image-text, and video categories combined — a sign that Alibaba’s open-weight ecosystem, rather than any single US lab, is currently setting the pace on Hugging Face’s download and adoption metrics.
- License, exact parameter architecture, and the existence of an official quantized release are all TBC. We’re intentionally not guessing at those details until we can confirm them directly from the model card.
- At 27B parameters, this model sits above the on-device threshold this brief prioritizes (roughly 8B or below, or a confirmed quantized variant). Without a quantized release, it isn’t practical to run directly on a typical laptop or edge device — it’s a server/cloud-scale model for now, even though its download numbers suggest broad developer interest.
